Black Christmas trees were the surprise hit of Christmas 2005. John Lewis sold out of their Black tree allocation by the beginning of October.   They out sold Ice White, Gold and Green Christmas Trees.

The best selling Christmas tree of 2008 was a 6ft pre lit black Christmas tree with 400 white lights.   They are now back in stock for Christmas 2007 get yours now before they sell out.

USA AND CANADIAN VISITORS TRY AMAZON FOR CHRISTMAS TREES

Get a Black Tree this year. Sales figures from John Lewis department stores show that artificial black trees - 6ft tall, pre-lit with 400 white lights, for £90 - are outselling ice white, gold and green trees.  John Lewis have sold out of Black Trees.

The shopping website iwantoneofthose.com has also seen healthy sales of black artificial trees. "Black and pink are this year's colours when it comes to retro cool fake trees," says the website.

Melissa Megginson, a buyer for the website, said sales of the black tree - priced £7.99 and £11.99 - were going well. "I think people are looking for something a bit different to add a kind of statement to their home," she said.  Only a few trees remain.
